By appearance this is a minimalist painting which has as it’s primary focus the dynamic spiraling energy of waves moving down the coast.

The title says it all ‘ a continually changing pattern of shapes and colours’

The sandstone formations in some of our coastal areas can be intricately sculpted by the elements, as well as providing an ideal environment for bird life.

With this painting, titled Ethereal I have aimed to give a fish’s perspective of filtered light penetrating the sea surface.

This painting is one of a series of pieces I have been working on. I enjoy the lack of constraint that surrealism allows and it is always interesting to hear the different interpretations which people can find.

This is the third painting in a series I have done using a figure in the same pose. I have used differing tones and backgrounds in order to manipulate the mood of the piece without loosing it’s intimacy.

This Is a whimsical piece that incorporates my love of the ocean and the things in it. Made for an unfettered imagination.

This is a painting celebrating the joy and freedom of movement.

With this painting I have tried to make it relatable to those of us who choose to spend some of their time in or on the water. It is such a large part of the lives of many people in this part of the world and has been as far back as our history goes.

The title of this piece is a line taken from a Van Morrision song. The next line is ‘let your soul and spirit fly’ which pertains to this area in the context of it being the departure place of spirits.

Beautiful and unspoiled. The stuff that surfers’ dreams are made of.

Tauranga Harbour looking towards Mt Maunganui:- When choosing to paint a coastal landscape of this country. I feel a bit spoilt for choice. The variety and remarkable locations on offer can be almost overwhelming. I choose to paint landscapes minus buildings or more obvious development as I see these as being more transitory when compared to the overall form of the land itself.
